Masterworks Brand in 2019 and Beyond

I don’t normally like to call attention to Masterworks. That’s because we exist to partner with ministries to help move hearts and minds to action. To serve others. So why call attention to ourselves?

You will notice a new look coming from Masterworks. We are rolling out a refresh to the Masterworks brand.

Let me tell you why. Our team was inclined to quietly roll out the brand refresh. We tell ministries their brand is their most important asset, so in some ways, we’re just taking our own advice —updating our brand to reflect who we are to the world. But we thought, if just one ministry is inspired through our sharing what we’re up to and why we’ve decided to update our brand in 2019, then we should share.

A brand exists in the minds of your audience. It’s a collection of experiences. A promise that we make to our customers, our staff, our vendors. At Masterworks, we’ve thought a lot about what promise we can make . . . and keep. Growth comes to mind. But at the end of the day, we don’t believe we are the ones who bring growth. We bring our skills and gifts, but I believe it is God who brings growth.

So what is unique that we can promise the organizations we partner with? We thought about it long and hard. We talked to existing clients and to respected ministries in the industry. During that process, we realized that in this industry, ministries often feel they are forced to make a choice when partnering with an agency. A choice between a partner who is missionally-aligned with them, or best-in-breed expertise. A partner who gets their cause. A partner whose heart breaks alongside theirs, who understands what motivates Christians to take action. Mission. Or, a partner who brings top-notch talent, strategy, the most advanced technology, buying power and proven methodologies to drive results. In other words, Mastery. We’ve seen so many organizations feel they have to make that choice.

With Masterworks, you get both Mission & Mastery. A partner who is missionally-aligned, who deeply cares about the work you have been called to and is walking side by side with you. And, a partner who brings the best expertise of any agency in the nation. A deep team. Strategic thinking and partnership for growth. The most advanced cloud-based technology. And constant innovation to pioneer the future of marketing and fundraising for Christian ministries.

Mission & Mastery. Optimization & Innovation. Strategy & Technology. Science & Art. Brand & Fundraising.

At Masterworks, we move people’s hearts AND minds to action for faith-based organizations’ purposes and causes.

Our new logo keeps the focus where we believe it should be — bringing mastery to the work, and doing the work of the Master. The three sails in our logo symbolize the idea of moving people to actions that make a difference. Sails don’t produce wind, they catch it. In the same way, we want a logo that symbolizes that we come alongside ministries and help them catch the forces that move us all.

Our colors are inspired by motivating emotions, the things we feel that cause us to do something, to move forward, to make a difference. We don’t have a single main color, it is a vibrant celebration of movement.

I believe a brand should reflect both who an organization has been, who it is today, and who it is becoming. We are never called to stand still. I’ve been in leadership at Masterworks for 27 of our 30 years, and I can tell you, this has never been truer than it is today. We are optimizing the present while inventing the future.

I’m optimistic about where we are, and where we are headed. Thanks for being on this journey with us.

I would like to close with a verse that has been meaningful to me over the years.

Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14

At Masterworks, we are focused on what’s ahead. Pressing on, in this age of transformation, of acceleration. Investing in technology. Investing in innovation. We’re grateful to be in this race with so many incredible ministries and partners.
